Andy Peterson presented the latest
developments in Specialty Geotechnical Construction to the American Society of
Civil Engineers and NYS County Highway Superintendents Association.
In August 2008, The New York State County Highway Superintendents Association, Inc hosted it’s Summer Highway & Bridge Professional Development Program at the High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, NY. Andy Peterson, Owner and President of Peterson Geotechnical Construction, LLC presented with Matthew J. Schooley, P.E., Senior Vice President of Barton & Loguidice, P.C. on the topic of Alternatives for Bridge Foundations. This presentation covered the processes, procedures and criteria used in selecting the foundation type for bridge structures, including the needs and requirements of the data collection, the influence of bridge superstructure and substructure types on the foundation considerations and design examples, and deep foundation construction methods and new technologies.
The applicability and suitability of the following specific foundation alternatives were presented by Andy Peterson:
- Caissons/Drilled Shafts
- Micropiles (Minipiles)
- Alternate Foundation Systems including: Jet Grouted Micropiles, “Titan” Piles and Ground Reinforcement and Improvement
In November 2008, Andy presented at the Mohawk Hudson Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers Annual Geotechnical Group Meeting in Albany, NY. This presentation included detailed information on the design and construction aspects of Micropiles, Ground and Rock Anchors, Soil Nail Walls and Grouting Applications. Case studies on various projects throughout the Northeast were included.
